Alas, the winter storm is upon us!

Hey guys, it’s Amy! I haven’t been posting much lately, as I’ve been busy and honestly, just had some serious blogger burnout. I actually have a blogging schedule (I know, isn’t it such a shock?), so when that got let go, there wasn’t really anything left. And I’ve missed blogging. A lot. However, I have been participating in the readathon I’m hosting diligently, so I haven’t stopped reading this time! Anyhoo, I hope to get back on track soon, and this is a great way to start! 🙂

The COYER Blackout Challenge is hosted by Michelle of Because Reading, Stormi of Books, Movies, Reviews.  Oh My!, and Berls from Fantasy is More Fun! This is the basics of the challenge, straight from the original post:

This time COYER is going to be a 12 week Blackout, where you have to dedicate yourself to reading the books YOU ALREADY  have acquired for less than $1.00.

That’s right,  you have between now and the start of COYER, December 17th, to acquire the books you’ll be reading during COYER. And they must be books you got for less than $1.00. The only exception is audio books, which you must have purchased for less than $5. They must either be eBooks or audio books.

We understand that we’re all constantly acquiring new books,  though.  So we’ve provided you a little relief (believe it or not this was all Michelle!), in the form of a generator.  Every book powers the generator up a little more.  After reading 10 books over 100 pages your generator is fully powered.  Books under 100 pages only provide half the energy… So it would take 20 books under 100 pages to power your generator.

Once your generator is powered up,  you may read ANY one book you want.  Doesn’t matter how much it cost, where you got it,  what format it is.  But your generator only has enough power for ONE book,  so use it immediately and wisely.  You can’t save it to use later,  it’s now or never!

This might be the hardest challenge I’ve ever seen! I actually saw this a couple of days after they posted it, so I’ve got a pretty awesome list so far (I was able to use a gazillion Black Friday deals!), and I just haven’t gotten my sign-up post up until now! I’m super excited; this challenge is super strict and I think that will just make it all the more fun. I’ve even set up a bunch of ebooks for the new year to match my various challenges! Eek!

Are any of you participating in this challenge? Do you want to see my list? What do you think of this idea? You should definitely go read their post; they tell the story in the most hilarious way! 🙂

A quick update on the readathon! Of the seven challenges, I have:

1.) Read a book from the library- Looking For Alaska (only second half) and My Lady Jane

2.) Read a book that you recently bought- 5 to 1

3.) Read a book that has been on your TBR for more than a year- (currently reading) A Night Divided

4.) Read a 2016 release- My Lady Jane

5.) Read a book that was gifted to you- (currently reading) A Night Divided

6.) A book that has more than 2,000 ratings on Goodreads-

7.) Listen to an audio book-

How are you all doing? Let me know down in the comments! Toodles!

  1. Good luck! I’m so glad you decided to join us. I got a little excited when you said it might be the hardest challenge you’ve seen – not that our goal is to be the hardest but I do think a real challenge is so much more fun 🙂
