Gaaa! Top Ten Tuesday is upon us yet again!
Sorry we haven’t really posted anything all week; Amy and I both have super busy schedules. I solemnly swear (that I am up to no good. Just kidding, but if you get that reference I will love you forever! ๐ ย )that we will try to post more often. But the question is… which books should we review?! There are so many good ones, and I’m sad to say it, but it’s impossible to do them all. So if you have any recommendations, please let us know in the comment section below the post, or refer to the About and Contact Information ๐ and send us a quick email! Spoiler Alert: Our next review may or may not be about The Throne of Glass. How many of you have read that amazing book? We love to hear from you guys, and your comments always make me smile! Ok, I’m probably boring you so I’m going to start my introduction now…
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the The Broke and the Bookish. If you want to partake in this event, you should giddy-up on over there and check them out! This week’s topic is… Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books (anything that inspires you, challenges you, makes you think, encourages you, etc.) This was easy/hard for me because unlike my cousin, I eat quotes up. The hard part was choosing only ten…I’m also putting my own little twist on this and adding two quotes that I love even though they’re not from books. Without further ado… I bring you Top Ten Tuesday with Nikki!
This first quote is the quote I live by. Sometimes, I repeat it over and over in my head if I’m having a bad day, and need a little reminder. This quote is from one of my favorite books of all time, The Help. Abilene would always say this to May Mobley, “You is smart, you is kind, you is important.”
The next quote on my regretfully short list is from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Do you see where this is going? This quote is debatable because some people might not view it as inspirational, but it definitely inspires me to live life to the fullest and get into trouble while I still can. (Some people might argue that I just made that up so I could put it in here. Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t.) But whatever the reasoning behind it, “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” Oh, wait! How about this? This quote inspired to learn how to spell solemnly correctly because I use it so much. Try to find fault in that logic. ๐
The third quote on my Ten Top list is from The Book Thief. I knew right away I wanted a quote from this book because I loved it so much, and it inspired me in so many ways. But it was so hard to narrow it down to one, I decided to use two. For the first quote, I decided to use one from Max. Max has said so many thought-provoking things, and I simply couldn’t use between these two: “Words are life, Liesel.” and “If your eyes could speak, what would they say?” (See what I did there? I actually was able to say both of them. Fight the system!) In the end, I chose the latter. “If your eyes could speak, what could they say?” I chose this quote because it’s a really deep thought. It really makes you think. What if you took the time to really look into someone’s eyes. What would you find? A silent plea for help? A sign? Would you even find anything at all? What if you found emptiness, a lack of hope, no reason to even live. This is just such a beautiful quote, and the way it’s worded… It just inspires me to take the time to actually notice people, to look into their eyes, to actually care.
The fourth quote is also from The Book Thief, as I previously mentioned. This one is from the narrator of the book, Death. I narrowed it down to two again. This time they were: “A last note from your narrator- I am haunted by humans.” and “She was one of the few humans who made me wonder what it was like to live.” Pause for a moment. Knowing me, which one do you think I chose? Again, I chose the latter. I mean, that’s just such a beautiful quote. Read it again. Already that says a lot about what kind of character Liesel is. The key word ‘few’, and the fact that this is coming from Death. Think about it. Death has collected a lot of different people, and only a few ever made him wonder. Sorry, got sidetracked thinking about that amazing book. Anyways, that quote inspires me to want to write something as beautiful as that. And, I know he isn’t real, but it also inspires me to try to be one of those few people that makes death wonder what it’s like to live…
Can we just take a moment and pause to think about how many extra quotes I would sneak in if this were song quotes? If you want to talk songs with me, email us. I love music soooo much. Try combining music and books… Mind blown.
My fifth quote is from a book I previously mentioned in my last Top Ten, Paper Towns. This quote is not really inspiring, but sort of depressing in a way. It brings you back down to reality, and sometimes that’s not a bad thing. “Just remember that sometimes, the way you think about a person isn’t always the way they actually are.” This is so, so true. Especially for me, since I have a tendency to build people up in my mind, only to have them knock that building over like a couple of crazy terrorists. Humans can be amazing and create beautiful things, but they can also be cruel and nasty. Not trying to be depressing, but although I think it’s a good thing to see the best in people, it can also be a weakness.
My sixth quote is from The Giver. I really wanted to do a quote from this book because the whole idea of the book is really thought-provoking. I couldn’t imagine a world without, music, feelings, family. The thought of it gives me the chills, and makes me remember how lucky I am. As usual, I had quite the dilemma picking just one, but then this beauty thought my eye: “For the first time, he heard something that he knew to be music. He heard people singing. Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he thought her heard music too. But perhaps, it was only an echo.”
ย Ok, I was trying to be tough and only pick one, but I just couldn’t deny the world this amazing quote:ย โI liked the feeling of love,’ Jonas confessed. He glanced nervously at the speaker on the wall, reassuring himself that no one was listening. ‘I wish we still had that,’ he whispered. ‘Of course,’ he added quickly, ‘I do understand that it wouldn’t work very well. And that it’s much better to be organized the way we are now. I can see that it was a dangerous way to live.’…’Still,’ he said slowly, almost to himself, ‘I did like the light they made. And the warmth.โ I honestly don’t know which one I like better. You decide. These quotes inspire me for so many reasons.
Because I don’t want to deny the world its natural pleasures, here ya’ go:
You’re welcome.
The seventh quote my list is from The Maze Runner. In the maze, the Gladers have sorta’ come up with their own slang…” You’re the shuckiest, shuck-faced shuck there ever was.” Knowing the Minho is out there to say these quotes is inspiration enough.
The eighth quote is from the. best. book. ever. The One. This book is so touching. Knowing that people like Maxon are out there is inspiring. The love shared by Maxon and America is so inspiring. Everything is inspiring. “Break my heart. Break it a thousand times if you like. It was only ever yours to break anyway.” If you didn’t just say, “Awe,” I will hunt you down and hit you over the head with a hammer. If you haven’t read The One, skip ahead and go get yourself a copy, ya’ fool! Ok, so when I thought Maxon was dead, I was about to kill the author. I was foaming at the mouth. It was scary, man. I’m usually a pretty peaceful person.
The ninth quote is from Vampire Academy. Usually Rose is such a tough, sassy person that when she says something sweet and deep, it gets ya’. “You can’t force love, I realized. It’s there or it isn’t. If it’s not there, you’ve got to be able to admit it. If it is there, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to protect the ones you love.” I love you, Rose. I really do. This quote really inspires me let go of my childish crushes and to take care of my loved ones.
My final quote is from the series after the Vampire Academy series, Bloodlines. This perfect character can always put me in a good mood with his never ending, arrogant, witty comebacks. Who is this charming, perfect character you ask? Why it’s none other than the great Adrian Ivashkov. “I love you, and beneath all that logic, calculation, and superstition, I know you love me too.” Wasn’t that touching? That’s how you end this baby! Now you have a choice… If you want to see some of my other favorite quotes, continue reading. If not, you are done! Hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned for more.
Now for you smart people who continued reading, you’re in for a treat. Behold some of my favorite quotes!!!
This is another one of those quotes I will repeat over and over again in my head. This is my life motto. I’m not even trying to be my charming, witty self right now. I’m just raw Nikki. Sometimes people do accuse me of ulterior motives for being kind. Apparently, I “act like sweet and innocent.” But, Mother Teresa is on my side, so why would I be bothered by you? Sorry, you didn’t need to hear my life story. ๐
This is literally my screen saver. Technically, it’s not a quote, it’s a poem, but it needs to be shared. These two pictures are two of the many quotes are my bedroom wall.
And we close with a bang. This next quote is from the best and most quotable movie of all time, Mean Girls!!!!
This has been Top Ten Tuesday with Nikki! I hoped you’ve had fun and come back for more! Over and out! (Wow, that was so dorky.) ย ย ๐ ๐
That Mean Girls quote made my day!! XD XD I love your choices and personally my favourites were from The Book Thief. ๐ I just feel they have so much meaning behind them and they really make you think. I have the book and it’s with my TBR pile (which is HUGE, someone help me before I drown in those books) and I am just really looking forward to reading it. ๐
PS- Oh my God Karen, you can’t just ask people why they’re white. ๐

Dude, your comment just made mine! I’m glad you liked them; it was really hard to choose. That’s exactly why I chose them; I was hoping they’d have that effect on somebody. Hopefully I added some more books to your TBR pile. Ok, here’s the deal: I’ll save you if you save me, because I’m drowning too. Dude!!!! I was trying to find that quote, but I found that one instead. You are the best.
