Hello everyone! Welcome back (already)! I promise (okay, I hope) that I’ll have some end-of-the-year and beginning-of-the-year stuff out soon, but before we get too far into the month, I wanted to make sure I put up my TBR (as well as my December classics/comics wrap-up and regular wrap-up)! I’m super excited about this month, not to mention year, of reading. There are so many exciting new releases, and I’m hoping to get through quite a bit of my physical TBR, as well as ARCs. Alright, let’s begin with my State of the ARC books! P.S. All covers are linked to their Amazon pages today (with my affiliate code)- it took me ages to figure out how to align them the way I wanted so please feel free to click on a couple and make it worth my while! 😂
The Sea Beast Takes a Lover- I believe this is an adult book of short stories… that are fantasy. That’s all I really know. Oops? The first three ARCs here won’t be released until the end of January or the beginning of February, so they’re actually… on time. WOW. #special
The Last Girl on Earth- Sadly, I did not look at the Goodreads reviews for this before I requested it, because BOY are they terrible. Yeesh. Hopefully I enjoy it more than everyone else?
The Last to Let Go- I don’t actually remember ANYTHING about this one. But based on what I know about her previous book, it might be… a thriller?
The Whole Thing Together- I loved Ann Brashare’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series a couple of years ago, so I requested this one at the beginning of 2017! I totally missed the release date, but I’m still curious to see whether I enjoy this one.
Bluff- This is a gambling book, so… Who knows. I’m not a gambler, I don’t care about gambling, remind me why I requested this again? Yikes!
2018 Challenges:
Siren’s Fury- I read the prequel to this book, Storm Siren, ages ago, and I honestly don’t remember it AT all. So I may end up rereading that one. However, I believe this one has some diverse characters in it, and that’s why it qualifies for a particular challenge? I’m not quite sure.
She, Myself, and I- I’m currently reading this one already, and I actually bought it NEW! New!!! (I never buy books new) It sounds so intriguing. The main character is a quadriplegic and about to die, so she undergoes a brain transplant with another girl her age who is brain dead. I mean… what??? I’m not sure how this one’ll go, but I’m definitely hoping I’ll enjoy it.
The Green Man- There’s books on the cover. I have high expectations.
Even the Darkest Stars- I think this is a mountain-climbing book? I’ve never done anything of the sort, so hopefully it’s thrilling and exciting, not just… unrelatable. No one wants that.
Other:
Inheritance- This is the OLDEST book on my Goodreads TBR. I added it in November of 2014. 2014!!! I’m crazy. It’s just… So huge… And it’s been ages since I read the first three now. Let me know if you’ve read this series, and whether or not you think it’s worth finishing. I’d do my research if I decide to pick this one up, but I think it’s now or never.
The Girl With the Red Balloon- Sadly, I can’t remember the premise of this one anymore, but uh… I was really excited about this when I bought it? Whoops? (I’m sensing a pattern here…) I did Peter Likes Books’ original scavenger hunt tag again for this one. It’s totally fate. Hopefully it’s fabulous.
Tell Us We’re Home- This is half a back-up for Siren’s Fury in case it doesn’t end up being diverse… But also, I just need to read it. I’ve had a physical copy for FAR too long. I’m not excited about it at all, but it seems short, so I can probably get through it quickly, eh?
Finnikin of the Rock- I’m actually already halfway through this one, but I wanted to ask your guys’ opinion on it- is it worth finishing? I’m not really super interested or engaged, and I’m feeling like I could just DNF it now, but I know a lot of people really love it. Does it get better at the end or am I just the odd one out who didn’t like the whole thing? Please let me know; I’d definitely love a second opinion.
Whew, that was quite a journey of a post! Well, not for you. For me it was, haha! Especially because of that, I really really really hope you all enjoyed it. All…. near 900 of you??!!?? WHAAAT?!? Someone explain how this happened. Also. Are you all robots? Let’s get some human interaction going here. Please let me know if you’ve read any of these books or plan to, and if so, what your thoughts on said books are! Especially if you’ve read Finnikin of the Rock; is it worth finishing? If none of those things apply to you, what’s on your TBR for January?

I didn’t think the Inheritance series was worth finishing, but that’s just my personal opinion. A lot of people loved it. I thought it was unnecessarily long and I waited too much for an ending I did not like. Maybe you’d like to find out for yourself.
Oh, no! I’ve heard great things about Finnickin of the Rock and it’s on my TBR. I don’t know when I’ll get to it though. All my plans right now are: “Let me read a book, just any book.” I really should make a TBR!

Okay, good to know! I definitely appreciate the input. I really don’t know that I’m excited or even interested in the series anymore, so I may just end up taking it off my TBR.
I know, me too!! I don’t know if I’m just the negative fish in this crowd, but I have zero idea why it’s so loved at this point in the book.

There are so many good books on your January TBR! She Myself and I is one that caught my eye last year and I am hoping to get to it this year. I also meant to read The Whole Thing Together last year together and sounds really good. Some of the other books on your TBR list I had never heard of before but they sound really interesting!

I actually just finished She Myself and I this afternoon and it was super unique and interesting! It has a YA plotline, but the characters are slightly older, so it has a very different feel. I quite enjoyed it, although it was a bit lacking on plot (it focuses a lot more on character development). Hopefully you enjoy it!

Thanks! I’m really hoping I enjoy them; I’m reading a lot of the books on my physical TBR, which are mostly… a lot of obscure books. So we’ll see how that goes! XD
