The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag

Thanks so much to Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff for nominating me! It sounds like this tag was originally created by Trey @ Trey Schnarr Books, but as his blog is protected, I learned this from Tabitha @ Bows & Bullet Reviews.

Now guys… I was tagged for this in November. Of… 2015. I cry.

I know, I know. Two tags in a row? But alas, you see, I’m incredibly behind on my list of tags. And besides, it’s a blogger tag. ‘It’s the season to be jolly. And catch up on tags. *rolls up sleeves* LET’S DO THIS THING.

How long have you been a blogger?

I looked it up to be sure, and it’s been just about 2 1/2 years. This is actually our first post (review of The Immortal Rules) if you’re so inclined…. *cringe* It’s terrible. I apologize in advance. But I wouldn’t take it back for the world.

At what point do you think you will stop?

Honestly, I would hope never, but I’m not sure. I’ll keep rolling until either you all stop coming or I stop having fun doing it. Fingers crossed that’s never!

What is the best thing?

All of you glorious people, of course! Although sometimes I feel like I’m speaking into a void. I love you guys, but SPEAK UP.

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay?

Definitely the pressure. Usually it doesn’t get to me, but lately I’ve been having a tough time of it. But when it’s too much… I de-stress. You know, books. Fabulous internet people (AKA you). Obsessively watching BooksandLala and/or Hailey in Bookland and/or Good Mythical Morning. The ‘usual. (Omg look at me how fancy)

How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?

I used to always get pictures off of the internet… and then I realized that’s #rude and totally stealing. So now I make my own using Canva (Analee @ Book Snacks converted me from PicMonkey and THANK THE LORD. IT IS GLORIOUS.). Honestly, it depends. Sometimes probably 5-10 minutes? Sometimes maybe half an hour? I have no idea. Someone should time me on these things. I should be important enough to be timed.

Who is your book crush?

WUT I don’t even know. I don’t have book crushes. I promise I don’t lie. Although I am totally in love with Diana (Wonder Woman) and Felicity (Gentleman’s Guide). I’m currently reading Ruin and Rising and I happen to adore Nikolai. He is my FAVE SMOL CHILD.

What author would you like to have on your blog?

Honestly, I’m too terrified to be a professional. But I absolutely adore Mackenzi Lee’s tweets (and book obv.) and she’s so fabulous.

What do you wear when you write your blog posts?

Um, nothing special? Is this a thing? I wear normal clothes. Or sometimes my cozy PJs because they are fabulous.

How long does it take you to prepare?

Not gonna lie, I’m not a very prepared person. So pretty much 0 seconds. For most posts. Not all.

How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?

I love it. Very much. Very very much. I find it utterly fabulous. Allllll the love.

What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?

Write about what you love, and enjoy yourself doing it!! If you’re having fun and being yourself, other people will enjoy reading your content.

Who do you tag?

YOU!! If you’re reading this and you’re a blogger, I want to see your answers! (And hey, if you’re not one, this would be a fabulous place to start!) Honestly. I had a great time doing this tag myself and I would LOVE to see your answers. And if no one else does it I will be a sad smol bean in the corner. Anyhoo, please pick it up and let me know if you do, so I can read it!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Uh, funny story- my laptop decided to totally go snail speed on me, so I wrote this on my phone. Please don’t hurt me be sad if my graphics are not as beautiful AKA nonexistent. They shall be back when my laptop restarts. Hopefully soon. Fingers crossed! πŸ˜‚ Happy reading everyone!

With love,

Amy Lou ❀

  1. Haha I still have some tags left from 2015 as well πŸ™ˆ I have to be in the mood for certain tags, so it takes forever for me to do them πŸ˜‚

I feel you about feeling like you’re speaking into a void! It can be quite disheartening to barely get any comments.

Also love the falling snow on your blog!

    1. Hahaha I agree! I totally get the feeling.
Oh my goodness, yes! I know some people read blogs without commenting and it drives me insane. I’m always disappointed when I don’t get many comments on a post, so if I’m taking the time to read someone else’s, I’m going to comment on it, you know?
      Awesome, I’m so glad! XD

    1. Yay, I’m so glad! Yessssss I love them so much. Although Ruin and Rising is kind of killing me right now. I’m like 92% sure that I’m free tonight, so I plan on BUCKLING DOWN and getting those last 200 pages in. I need Six of Crows in my life. Everyone else just loves it so much, I feel so left out! XD

  3. I love this tag! And your answers made me smile so much hahaha
I didn’t know it was a thing to dress up for blogging either? xD It’d be cute if it were, though!
I absolutely love the book community as well and don’t know what my life would be like without it. It’s been too long! I’d miss it like crazy. But I don’t know what the future brings either.
    Also lovely advice, Amy!

    1. Hahaha thanks! If you’re interested, you should totally pick it up. XD
Hehe I know right?? I’d be curious to see if the creator had something specific or if that was just a goofy question.
Yesssss it’s amazing! I always feel like I can talk on the blog/twitter about virtually anything. It’s totally fabulous.
Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed!

  4. I’m so totally behind on my tags too πŸ™‚ don’t even know if I’m going to do them! I was tagged in a lot at one point πŸ˜€
Yeah, the community is indeed fabulous πŸ™‚ the interesting thing? I haven’t noticed such amounts of comments, friendships and communities in a lot of other industries (I mean, like beauty blogs etc), so we really are lucky with the community πŸ™‚
And I loved that pyjama goat GIF xD perfect!

    1. Hahaha same! I totally understand the feeling. XD It’s kind of nice though; when I want to do a tag, I can just go into my drafts and pick one that seems appropriate!
Absolutely! I agree. We seem to be unique in that fashion, and I’m so glad for it!
      Hahaha thanks!

  5. Agh, all the people you mentioned in your book crush answer are amazing! Nikolai is LITERALLY the only bright spot in that series for me hahhaa. And omg that’s amazing that you’ve been blogging for 2 1/2 years!! I haven’t even hit 1 year yet. πŸ˜‚ And ahahah I really don’t take much preparation for a post?? Like what does that even mean?? Do I like outline what I’m going to be writing… because no. πŸ˜‚ Great post & tag!!

    1. Hahaha I totally understand the feeling! I was LIVING for his pages.
Hehe thanks! It’s been a journey, but it definitely flies by. πŸ˜‰
I have no idea! I mean, for TBRs I do plan what I’m going to do, and for wrap-ups, I obviously have to read the books, but I don’t really β€œprepare” for anything?
      Thanks! XD

  6. Oops, I am…only KIND OF a book blogger but I do love talking about books anyways! I’ve really been wanting to read The Gentleman’s Guide for Vice and Virtue — I really hope to buy it after the holidays when I have a bit of money haha because IT SOUNDS WONDERFUL.
