August Readathons: WHY ARE THERE SO MANY?!

August.png

Well hello there! There are SO many readathons happening in August (and some have already happened, whoops), that I thought I’d make a post on all of the ones I’m participating in! It’s going to be a hectic month with hardly any breaks. I’m crazy, you’re crazy, it’s gonna be great.

Onto the list we gooooooooooooooooooo!

Hosted by the girls at Read Sleep Repeat, ARC August is all about “hunkering down” and finally getting around to those pesky ARCs (advanced reader copies)! It runs throughout the entire month, and the goal is basically to #READTHEMALL and have lots of fun. 🙂

Since I already had other readathons planned for the first half of August, I haven’t actually started any ARCs for this yet, but I do plan on reading mostly ARCs towards the end of the month. 🙂 I definitely have plenty to choose from!

Hosted by Michelle @ Bookaholic Banter, the Alphabethon is about getting through the entire alphabet worth of books. The first round was all about A books, the second about B books, and this past round was C books. The readathon is already over (it ran from July 31 – August 6), but I had a super fun time participating and will definitely be on the lookout for the next round. Hopefully I’ll have a wrap-up posted for this one soon!

Next up we have the Make Me Read It Readathon, hosted by Val @ The Innocent Smiley and Ely @ Tea and Titles. For this readathon, each participant makes a list of 10-or-so books they’d like to read, and makes a poll with all of the titles. When the readathon starts, you read the book with the most votes first, and so on until the readathon is over. I participated in this readathon last year and had so much fun, so of course I had to join in again! It’s actually going on right now (it runs from the 6-13), and I did make a separate post with my poll, so if you want to know what I’ll be reading, you can check that out here!

The Reading Quest Sign Up Post

The Reading Quest readathon is hosted by Aentee @ Read at Midnight, and by golly, it looks SO COOL. Aentee makes the coolest challenges! Basically, the readathon lasts for about a month (August 13 – September 10), and all of the challenges are based on a video game. You can choose your character and follow their path, earn points for completing challenges, and even do side quests. (I know, mind blown) There are a bunch of prompts for this, so I do hope to post an official TBR before it starts (I’m a rogue for sure!), and since I did want to participate in ARC August, I’m trying to apply as many ARCs as I can to this challenge. Wish me luck; this’ll be super fun!

The Back to Hogwarts Cramathon, hosted by Rhiannon @ Crescent Moon Reads, is a 24 hour readathon happening on August 18! You don’t have to read the Harry Potter series; it’s just a regular 24-hour readathon with some fun Hogwarts-based challenges. 🙂

I love the idea of this one and I will try to participate, but unfortunately I go back to school the day before (August 17th), so I might not get much reading done. We’ll see! In any case, if I end up participating, I’ll be reading a book/books from my Reading Quest TBR. 🙂

And the last readathon I’ll be participating in during August is Wonder Week, which is hosted by Rimpy @ Rimpy’s Reads! It runs at the very end of August, from the 25th to the 1st of September. This readathon is all about bloggers! There is a reading challenge bingo card which you can attempt to get a bingo on, but there will also be games hosted on various different blogs. A lot of the time, blogs are mostly ignored for readathons (see: BookTube-a-Thon), and while I know that’s not the intention, it happens anyway. This just sounds like a super fun idea to bring all of us bloggers together, and although (as I mentioned before) I’ll already be in school, I’m still hoping to participate as much as I can! This is my (tentative) TBR for the readathon, which currently consists of ARCs (I’m trying to fill the middle row):

Whew! And that’s it! As you can see, I have a lot on my plate for this month, but it’s all for the fun of it, so I’m excited!

Let me know if you’re participating in any of these readathons! Have I introduced you to any you want to join in on? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! 😉

Lots of Love, Amy ❤

  1. That’s a whole load of read-a-thons right here!

It’s the first time ever that I’m participating in any this month and I immediately took on three myself, haha. Read-a-thin, Make Me Read It Read-a-thon and ARC August.

I really wanted to join in on Rimpy’s read-a-thon as well, but I’ll be leaving on my road trip about half way during the read-a-thon so I thought it would be better not to.. Since I’ll only get frustrated about not reading otherwise, haha.

Have fun and good luck! ^-^
