Hey y’all! 😉 Not-so-long ago, I created an announcement post saying that I’ll be participating in the Biannual Bibliothon as well as the 24 in 48 readathon! (I’m also a blogger host, so make sure to click the link above to check out all of the blogging prompts for the week!) I decided I wanted to wait a few more days to make my TBR for the read-a-thon, so here it is!
The challenges are as follows:
1) Read the group book
The group book this time actually just so happens to be Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh! I… Had to completely change my TBR for another readathon to accommodate this. Argh.
2) Read a book from a host’s favorite genre
Caz’s favorite genre is historical fiction. Now, usually I’m rather put off by historical fiction, but after reading A Tyranny of Petticoats, I’ve been thinking about trying some more anyway. So why not start with an author who actually wrote one of my favorite stories from that book? I’ve been wanting to pick up A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee for a while anyway.
3) Read a book that has been banned
I actually own the bind-up of Cracked Up to Be and Some Girls Are (it’s called What Goes Around) by Courtney Summers! I’ve already read the first, so for this challenge, I’m going with Some Girls Are, which was on the 2015/2016 banned list.
4) Throwback challenge
(Read a book you were really excited for but never picked up)
I was SO excited about Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson when I first heard about it, but somehow I never actually got around to ordering/reading it. I’m still excited. YES.
5) Read and watch a book-to-movie adaptation
I’ve actually been hearing about A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness quite a bit lately! It looks super interesting and I’ve heard that both the book and movie are amazing, so I’d absolutely love to give it a shot.
6) Read a book you heard about somewhere other than BookTube (or the blogosphere)
I… Ahem. Bought this book as a cover buy. Because it was sparkly. #sorrynotsorry I looked it up on Goodreads first, but THOSE SPARKLES THOUGH. Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser it is.
7) Read a book with LGBTQ+ representation
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz is… A long title. But everyone praises this book so highly, and I can’t believe I haven’t jumped onto this bandwagon yet. I can’t wait to read it!
Now, I have to say, although I’ve just chosen seven books, I definitely can’t promise that I’ll read all of those in just one week. My goal is to read 5 of these 7 books, although I am, of course, shooting for all of them. 🙂 And, fortunately for me, the 24 in 48 readathon is happening the day before and first day of this readathon, so that will definitely give me a head start! Wish me luck, I know my fingers will be crossed! 😉 What’s on your TBR for this readathon, or perhaps the BookTubeaThon? Or if you’re not participating in either, what’s a book you recently added to your TBR? (P.S. If you haven’t already, make sure to vote for which books I should read for the #MakeMeRead Readathon!)
This is a great TBR! Aristotle and Dante is so good. Hope you love it!
