A Book of Bittersweet Romance and Dreams (obviously)!

Five o’clock on the dot and I am out of the building. I find myself rushing home to dream of him, like an addict craving his next fix.

As always, my last requested review was for The Death of Death by K.N. Parker! This is a review for the COYER Challenge.

This book was so short!

At only 12 pages, the author was forced to cram a lot of story and therefore a lot of time into very few words. This resulted in a quick, easy read. However, it meant that the story felt choppy at points, because huge chunks of time would pass in a sentence. This was confusing, especially to tired Amy sitting by the fire. Yikes!

The story concept was interesting.

The main character, Nina, has had three different boyfriends cheat on her, and she’s basically given up on men. Then, she dreams of someone strange and unfamiliar. She pours her heart out to him, and he comforts her. Then, the next night she dreams of him again. And again, and again, and again. She becomes obsessed with him, and nothing else matters, and it is clear she is falling in love with this mysterious man. However, they know they come from different worlds, and they don’t know if or when their meetings will end, so they simply have to make the best of the time they have together.

In that sense, it was a bittersweet feeling.

Right away, you see the insta-love, and then the relationship progresses very quickly until Nina only cares for the man in her dreams. It was just kind of cute, but the feeling of not knowing when she could lose the love of her life was rather sad.

I sound like an emotionless robot.

I’m not…. This book is just very hard to review! Overall, the book is just so short that it skipped over a lot of details, a bunch of random characters were introduced and never come back to, and the passage of time was so fast that it was confusing. However, the concept and the love story was cute and bittersweet, so it was still enjoyable for such a quick read.

I would recommend this book if you’re looking for something really quick and easy to read. It’s a light and fluffy read to pass the time… Very quickly. 😉

In other, quick news, Bout of Books (you can see my sign-up here) starts today! I participated in the Twitter chat… And then immediately became very confused. I thought it started the eighth! As I’m still participating in the COYER challenge, I don’t know if I’ll be able to read Stalking Jack the Ripper (I’d have to get it from my library) and I most likely won’t be able to read a book recommended by a BookTuber. Does anyone know if Never Never by Colleen Hoover is diverse? I can’t seem to find it anywhere in actual writing, but there was some kind of Google turn-up about Diverse YA, so I’m not sure. Please let me know down in the comments! 🙂 Are any of you participating in Bout of Books or Biannual Bibliothon? OR BOTH? I’m probably going to completely fail one or both of these readathons, as they are back-to-back, and I go back to school on the ninth! Wish me luck!
