I wish blogging was my job. Too bad it can’t be… Right??

Hey guys, it’s Amy! I feel like I’ve seen this topic discussed a lot lately in the blogosphere. It’s seen as kind of taboo, because of some idiots who messed up, but that should not reflect on the entire blogosphere. Most of us are the kindest, sweetest, most innocent people you’ll ever meet, and it’s not fair for other people, as well as some bloggers, to think that that will happen with everyone in every situation.

I wanted to talk about this post now, though, because of a particular post I stumbled upon- Ashley @ Nose Graze’s post on book bloggers making money. I liked reading the responses she got, but when I was finished, I replied with this comment:

This is a really interesting post. It’s actually rather disheartening to read the comments on this post, because I see that a few say they won’t read a blog that gets paid for any kind of reviews. But I’ve been thinking about this topic lately. I’m a teenager (AKA no bills, and any money I earn basically goes to books haha), so I don’t need the money. I don’t want it either. However, if I want to upgrade my blog and/or buy something that would help traffic, efficiency, etc., I think it would be awesome if I was able to make a little money blogging, and put that money BACK into my blog. Eventually, it would be amazing if I could make some real money from my blog, because I love doing it, and as it grows bigger, there are more and more things I have to do to keep it running and growing, and be social at the same time.

Recently, I was contacted about reviewing this ONE THING (which I shall review soon, so don’t worry, you’ll hear full details), and I freaked out because Kiersten White’s name was mentioned. Now, granted, I’ve never read And I Darken (and I don’t know whether she has any other books), but she’s a BIG author. I proceeded to fangirl wildly about it to all of my friends, and eventually, my parents. And they said something about me ending up having this as a job. And I just went… OHHHHHHHHHHH.

We all know that there are plenty of YouTubers out there who have sponsored posts. In fact, most of their posts are sponsored. Because YouTube is their JOB. So why can’t we do the same thing with book blogging? We’re putting in a ton of time (and occasionally money), not to mention thought and just general creativity. Now, I want to make sure you all know right now:

I do not currently make any profit off of my blog. No affiliate links, no sponsored posts, no paid reviews, nothing. I promise that I will let you know immediately if and when that happens. This is all HYPOTHETICAL, a discussion post, a little testing-the-waters if you will.

There are a gazillion other posts out there like this that explain the whole idea so much better, and go into much more detail. For today, I just wanted to throw the idea out there and see what you all thought! PLEASE let me know down in the comments what you think about this topic, and if you would be okay with it if I ever decided to participate in anything like this and try to make money off of my blog! I would really appreciate it. Thanks! Toodles! 😉
