Books, results, and announcements! What could be better?

Hello all! Amy here. So, as many of you know, I participated in a couple of readathons in July, back to back! Immediately after the second one, I left for camp, so I haven’t gotten around to posting my results yet, but I wanted to be sure I share them with you! Let’s get started, shall we? 🙂

The first one I participated in was the Biannual Bibliothon! I had some pretty ambitious goals, and while I did pretty well, I didn’t do as well as I would’ve liked.

• Read the group book- The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
• Free choice/wild card book- Something totally random to be decided on a whim by yours truly
• A book off the host’s list of recommendations- More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
• A book with one of your favorite mythical creatures (dragons)/been putting off reading- Inheritance by Christopher Paolini
• A book from an author you’ve never read before-  A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
• A book in a format different than you usually read- Identical by Ellen Hopkins

I ended up reading 4 books- Identical, The Unexpected Everything, A Darker Shade of Magic, and More Happy Than Not. Identical was alright (although a little scarring, to be honest), and I absolutely loved the other three! I didn’t even attempt to start Inheritance…. It’s over 800 pages, can you blame me?

BUT, even though I didn’t make all my goals (but I did read some I was really looking forward to, so that’s great), I had a lot of fun! I participated in tons of sprints and I met SO MANY NEW PEOPLE. SO MANY AMAZING PEOPLE. Definitely worth it! I hope to participate again in the winter.

The next readathon I participated in was the Make Me Read It Readathon. For this one, I made a poll with ten books, and YOU got to pick what I read! My top three were Lady Midnight, Pride and Prejudice, and The Hobbit. I liked Lady Midnight quite a bit, absolutely LOVED Pride and Prejudice (I listened to it as an audiobook, which was very helpful and kept me moving/focused), and only got halfway through the Hobbit. Oops. I still haven’t finished it (I temporarily lost it, and then started other books, so I’m going to finish it very soon!), but I’m loving it so far! NO SPOILERS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

In any case, I didn’t really have a set goal for this readathon, as I had no idea how many books I would be able to read, and I realized that Lady Midnight was very long (not to mention the Pride and Prejudice audiobook was 11 1/2 hours- yes, I know that off the top of my head. It was a very interesting 11 1/2 hours), so I just went with the flow, and I really enjoyed it! I thought it was super fun to have you guys pick what I read, and I definitely hope to do this again!

Well, I didn’t quite meet all of my goals/expectations, but I came fairly close, and I had such a good time! I’d call that a success! 🙂 The next readathon I’m participating in is the #ReadThemAllThon, starting August 14th, and continuing for 3 weeks! (Hint: You should come join!) I’m leaving for a week-long vacation today (along with Nikki), so I’m hoping to schedule some posts before I leave, but I’m not sure how much time I’ll have, so they might be sparse and/or barely existent…. XD In any case, I probably won’t be around very much, to reply to comments, etc., so I’m not ignoring you! I’ve also just caught up on my list of ARCs, so if I haven’t responded to you, I didn’t get your email. I will be taking my iPad on vacation, and I’m hoping to get a bunch of ARCs read and reviewed. (I think I’m up to…. 15ish or so, though, so I most likely won’t finish.) Wish me luck! Toodles!
