HEY GUYS!!! I’M JUST A LITTLE INSANE!!!
I have a bit of a problem… I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL. WHATSOEVER. As some of you might know (and if you don’t, you’re about to find out), I just signed up for a bibliothon. Ahem. Well. It runs from the 3rd to the 9th, and uh… I JUST FOUND ANOTHER ONE. The Make Me Read It Readathon is hosted by Ely @ Tea and Titles and Val @ The Innocent Smiley! And it looks super awesome. I’M SORRY I HAVE A PROBLEM.
Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.
Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.
When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.
A VERY VERY HUGE PROBLEM. BUT I’M DOING IT ANYWAY BECAUSE BOOOOOOOOKS AND READATHOOOOOOOOONSSSSSSS!!!
I’m picking out ten books because although it’s highly unlikely that I’ll actually read that many… I like the number ten. It’s very cute and round and whatnot. For this read-a-thon, I decided to only list books that I own, as I have quite a few of those and they must be addressed. *nods* Let’s see those choices, shall we?
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (ebook)
- Egg & Spoon by Gregory Maguire (audiobook)
- Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
- Emma by Jane Austen
- A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
- Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
- So Close to You by Rachel Carter
- The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke
- What Goes Around by Courtney Summers
I hope you see some familiar faces/titles! 😉 Please don’t vote twice; I know you can but I would appreciate it if you didn’t. Thanks! Also- feel free to vote for multiple books, whether they’re ones you read and loved or books you’ve seen around and are wondering what I’ll think!
Tell me what you voted for and why in the comments if you’d like! Toodles!
(I’m manually adding the votes from my Goodreads poll– they’re identical)
So fun! Maybe I’ll try this one day.

Awesome! I hadn’t heard of him before, but Egg & Spoon was a bestseller or something, so I had to buy it. 🙂

Have fun with the readathon and thanks for voting.

I love readathons, but I feel like they all run during the summer. Which results in me participating in what feels like a million readathons at the same time. Hope that you read some good books! 🙂

You have some great options on there, Amy! (Well… except for Emma. I don’t really like that book.
It’s the only Austen book I don’t like, actually. But whatever.) I voted for P&P and The Thief Lord (they are BOTH amaaazinngg) and obviously Lady Midnight because, well, CASSANDRA CLARE. (Can you believe I haven’t yet read it, though? 😮 Bcoz I definitely can’t. I mean, it’s not even that I haven’t managed to get my hands on it!! It’s been waiting in my shelf since foreverrr, but god knows what’s wrong with me.
I gotta read it soon…)

Thanks! Oh, that’s too bad! I don’t really know much about Emma and I got it free from the library, so….
Awesome! I mean… Lady Midnight has been sitting patiently waiting since EASTER. EASTER I TELL YOU. I CANNOT BELIEVE MYSELF. MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ IT WITH ME.

Ah well, we don’t much celebrate Easter around here, so I never really keep track of it. 😛 But at least you remember, Amy! Moi, I don’t even KNOW how long I’ve had it!! rolls eyes at self But you’re right, maybe I should read it with you… nods 😉
Lol, just kidding… maybe. 😉 ), you should forget about Emma and read the other fabulous ones like Mansfield Park, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey… you know. But if you DON’T like P&P (I’m sobbing even thinking about that possibility 😥 ), only then I’d suggest you to go for Emma. Because I’ve seen that people who’ve loved Emma are mostly critical about Jane Austen’s other works, especially P&P…
Well, I’d suggest you try P&P first (um… this would be your first Austen, right?) and then if you enjoy it (actually… you BETTER enjoy it, otherwise our friendship will seriously be hindered.

Hahaha, it was quite a while ago. 😉 My mom bought it as an Easter present, so….
Eek! Well, I think I’m going to end up reading P&P right after Lady Midnight (they’re the most popular), so hopefully I enjoy it! OH NO I HOPE I LIKE IT. I CANNOT RUIN THIS BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP.

Lady Midnight is huge around 800 pages, so probably not the best readathon book. I’m really curious to see how this one is. I’m trying to finish The Infernal Devices before I read that book.
