Hello everyone! It’s Amy again, unfortunately Nikki is super busy so she won’t be sharing in the fun this week. Okay, take your minute to cry…
Have you sobbed long and hard yet? No? Well, hurry up then! I’m on a tight schedule!
Okay, good. Now that all the crying is out of the way, MY SUPER AWESOME FANTASTICALLY SPASTICALLY COOL NEWS! (I don’t know either.)

Yup, a read-a-thon! This is my first participation, so to speak, in any type of “challenge” or read-a-thon. Before I start blathering on and on about something completely irrelevant, how bout I tell you a bit about it? Here are the rules:
* There’s no need for you to have a blog in order to participate. You can enter by using your Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads and YouTube;
* You don’t need to enter every single day. As long as you’re signed-up, read and do a wrap-up at the end, there’s no need for you to show your progress every single day;
* The sign-up form will be open until September 22nd;
* Please leave a link to this post on your blog or any other social networks you’re participating with;
* ATTENTION: only participants of this read-a-thon can enter any of the giveaways hosted!
For those of you who are super-observant, you may have noticed that the read-a-thon actually started the 21st, which was yesterday. That’s okay, though, because I was able to sign up yesterday thanks to that awesome rule, and that means you all can too! 😉 Before I start rambling again, how about I tell you the challenges?
* Read a total of three (3) books;
* To read at least 150 pages per day;
* To read a book with the colour orange and/or brown on the cover;
* To read a book out of your comfort zone (a book from a genre you don’t normally read);
* To read a book with a word in the title that’s associated with autumn (autumn itself, leaf, acorn, chestnut, spider, cobweb, Halloween, etc…) – Thank you Michelle for this idea;
* To read a book that scares you (whether it’s a horror book, a book that intimidates you, you can pick up whatever reason for a book you scare you)
Now, of course you don’t have to do all of these, but I am an over-achiever, so I plan to read these three books:
Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
- Obviously there’s three books,
- I should be able to read 150 pages easily with these captivating novels (and my tons of free time haha),
- Catching Fire has some orange,
- Thirteen Reasons Why is way out of my comfort zone,
- I associate both fire and ashes with fall,
- And finally, Thirteen Reasons Why definitely scares me. I’m always scared of suicide books, but this one in particular has intimidated me for a long time.
It took me a while to come up with this combination to cover all my bases, haha! I’m planning on having three posts over the course of this week; one today (duh), one Thursday/Fridayish, and hopefully one on Sunday the 27th.
Today I read Snow Like Ashes, starting on page 194 and ending on page 416 (that is to say, I finished it), which brings us to a grand total of 222 pages for the day. What do you think, is it satisfactory? 🙂
What, there’s more, you say? Yup! Today’s Tuesday, which means it’s Top Ten Tuesday! Okay, I know I said we might be starting the new memes this week, but I did say might. Since they’re Nikki’s ideas, she gets to test them out first, and who knows when that’ll happen. 🙂 Sooooo…. That means I’m still in for Top Ten Tuesday! I can’t turn into Nikki with her million mile long posts, so this’ll be a shortie. 😉 (Of course, you could always stop reading now. But where’s the fun in that?)
This week’s topic is Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR, which I translate to mean The First Five Books I Think Of That Are On My Fall TBR. Let’s get started, shall we?
1) Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas-
Nope, no pictures… Ain’t nobody got time for that! Anyway, do I really have to add anything more? Honestly, the first two books were just, *sigh* and HoF was just, !!!!!!!!!! I don’t think I could handle NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. The horror!
2) Winter by Marissa Meyer-
I know it hasn’t come out yet, but it comes out in November, and that’s totally still fall.
3) The Cage by Meghan Shepherd-
I actually have no idea how I’ll get a copy of this (I’ll probably have to buy it), and I was really disappointed in the reviews for it, but the blurb is just SO DARN INTERESTING!!!
4) The Maze Runner by James Dashner-
I’ve actually had a huge issue with picking this up, but I have a copy and I saw the movie and my brain can’t handle that either. So it’s on the list.
5) An Ember In the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir-
Let’s just be honest, what blogger is completely oblivious to hype? Probably none except the ones hiding under a rock. (AKA none) This book has had some, mostly good, so I am very eager to test it out.
Have any of you read these eight books? Hope to? Heard things? Are you a part of the read-a-thon? Have you been before? Do you plan on joining in now? What are you reading? Tell me about it! Or just say hi. 🙂 You know I’ll stalk you back! Toodles!
YAY, YAY, YAY!

Whoo, I’m so excited for you. I love read-athons. Whenever I’m feeling slumpy, readathons get me right out of my blues! I wish I could participate in this- it sounds super fun, but UNIVERSITY is kicking my butt. >.<

Hope you’re doing well on the read-a-thon! 🙂 I haven’t read at all yet today haha. Unless you count schoolbooks and blogposts.

Haha, thanks! It was really fun. I know your comment is really old, I’ve just been really busy lately and the blog has started to feel like a chore… I needed a little break. 🙂
