Yet Another One…

(Is this picture not adorable!!!???!!!) As the picture says, Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. The topic this week is…

Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer or Ten Books I Think Make Great Beach Reads

I’m actually not going to the beach this summer; my family has plans for Colorado! So I will definitely pick the second. By the way, many of these books fly low under the radar. Not commonly heard of! Maybe you’ll find a new read. 🙂

Hannah by Kathryn Lasky –

Beach. Mermaids. I think it should be obvious.

Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev –

The beach is like a magical place. That’s partly why I chose this book, but mostly because of the constant reference to eyes like stars. Look up and watch those waves sparkle!

Catch Your Death by Lauren Child –

Short, quick read. Very light material. On the beach, I think that’s how we all want it.

Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson –

In case you haven’t noticed, this is a prequel to Peter Pan. I just feel like the beach would connect with this world. A little extra heat doesn’t hurt your imagination/hallucinations, right?

Trading Faces by Julia DeVillers and Jennifer Roy –

Another light read. Very fun. Looking back on this book, this is almost exactly like the TV show Liv and Maddie!

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan –

Ocean/sea anyone? If I started reading this on the beach I would never get done because I would constantly be jumping up trying to find my hidden powers…

Mission Unstoppable by Dan Gutman –

Fun and easy. The two main charaters are Coke and Pepsi! I think that speaks for itself.

Pie by Sarah Weeks –
Yes, really. PIE!!! I actually have no idea why I picked this one… It just struck me as something I might read at the beach, and that’s what this is all about, right?

Wonder by R.J. Palacio –
Such a sweet story. If you haven’t read it, you must! Doesn’t matter if you happen to be on a beach. I picked it because I feel like this book opens your eyes, and finishing that at the beach and looking up would be like being blind all your life and suddenly being able to read.

Real Mermaids Don’t Wear Toe Rings by Hélène Boudreau –
Mermaids! I think if I were reading this book I would be constantly getting up and laying where the water laps at the sand to try to get my tail… Poor book would get a little soggy. Or a lot. 🙂

Well guys, looks like that’s it for today! Sorry it was a little short, but it is what it is, right? I haven’t spoken with her on the topic, but I assume Nikki is not doing a TTT this week. She’s in Washington, D.C.! Her little sister is in the national spelling bee. Wish her luck! Happy reading to all of you, and cheers to summer! 😉

  1. I’m sorry, guys! Not TTT for me. This might sound lazy of me, but I’m too busy relaxing poolside, shopping, Polyvoring, and currently reading Little Women. (Gotta love the classics.) You must think me to be a horrible person, but wouldn’t you do the same in my place? Hey, you better not get tomatoes on my new swimsuit!! I mean, it’s not every day a day gets to go to a five star hotel!! But I’m honestly really sorry, and I hope you don’t totally hate me and stop visiting our blog because our posts are your lifeline and you’d die without them and that would be bad. Or something like that. I’ll see you next week! I love you all, even if you turned my pink polkadots into red blobs!
