Whaaaaaaat?

How can this be??? I’m never gonna keep up with this. Seriously. Anyway, Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the lovely people over at the Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is:

Ten Authors I REALLY Want To Meet

I don’t really fantasize about meeting any authors! So instead, I will talk about the first ten authors on my top ten (thirty) favorite authors list. Keep in mind, these aren’t necessarily the TOP ten on my list, just the first ten I thought of that night. 🙂 Also, all the bios are according to Goodreads. If you would like something more accurate, I suggest you visit their websites. 🙂

Marissa Meyer:

Doesn’t she just, like, look nice? No, I don’t mean pretty (although you could say that too). I mean, she just looks like a genuinely nice person! Here is her website, and this is her bio:

I live in Tacoma, Washington, with my fiancé and our two cats. In addition to my slight obsession with books and writing, I’m big on road-tripping, wine-tasting, and hunting for antiques. I’m represented by Jill Grinberg.

I labeled her for the Lunar Chronicles.

Fairest is book 3.5 in the series. And may I just say,
This truly was an amazing series. I’ve read everything she has out so far! Winter will come out in November 2015, and Heartless (a prequel to Alice in Wonderland) will come out in February 2016.

Kiera Cass:

She looks so fun(ny) don’t you think? Here is her website. And her bio/stuff she loves:

100 Things I Love
Being married. Cake. The smell of Autumn. Motherhood. Books. Elephants. Back rubs. On demand movies. Actually going out to movies. Faith. Cinnamon rolls. My family. Butterflies. I labeled her for the Selection series (obviously).

The Heir came out May 5 (but I have yet to read it – ack!!!). I believe she has also written The Siren, but is going to republish that at a later date. I have only read The Selection, The Elite, and The One by her.

Julie Kagawa:

You can find her website here.
I labeled her for the Blood of Eden series.

I’ve read the first two, and I just recently finished the third. (By the way, it was incredible.) She’s also written the Iron Fey series and the Talon series.

Rick Riordan:

I’ve heard he’s very nice. You can find his website here.

I labeled him for the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series.

Another series by him is the Kane Chronicles. I have read all of these books. Also, he has written various “files”, short stories, and books for the 39 Clues series.

Lauren Oliver:

She looks so happy. Much like Mrs. Cass. Here is her website. Bio:

Lauren Oliver comes from a family of writers and so has always (mistakenly) believed that spending hours in front of the computer every day, mulling over the difference between “chortling” and “chuckling,” is normal. She has always been an avid reader.
She attended the University of Chicago, where she continued to be as impractical as possible by majoring in philosophy and literature. After college, she attended the MFA program at NYU and worked briefly as the world’s worst editorial assistant, and only marginally better assistant editor, at a major publishing house in New York. Her major career contributions during this time were flouting the corporate dress code at every possible turn and repeatedly breaking the printer. Before I Fall is her first published novel. She is deeply grateful for the chance to continue writing, as she has never been particularly good at anything else.

I labeled her for the Delirium series.

When I made my top thirty (hehe) favorite authors list, I cheated a little. I didn’t want to make two seperate links for Delirium and Pandemonium. So even though I had not read Requiem yet, I listed the entire series. Just recently I read Requiem, and may I just say, incredible! Wowza! I think even more highly of this series now. She has also written short stories to go along with the Delirium series, Before I Fall, Panic, and Vanishing Girls.

Scott Westerfeld:

This was the most straightforward picture I could find. Here is his website. Bio:

Scott Westerfeld is a New York Times bestselling author of YA. He was born in the Texas and now lives in Sydney and New York City. In 2001, Westerfeld married fellow author Justine Larbalestier.

He is best known for the Uglies and Leviathan series, and his next book, Afterworlds, comes out September 23, 2014.

His book Evolution’s Darling was a New York Times Notable Book, and won a Special Citation for the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award. So Yesterday won a Victorian Premier’s Award and both Leviathan and Midnighters 1: The Secret Hour won Aurealis Awards. Peeps and Uglies were both named as Best Books for Young Adults 2006 by the American Library Association.

Obviously this was not written from “his” point of view, and is a bit old, but… It’s what I found on Goodreads.

I labeled him for The Uglies series.

These are personally my favorite (least creepy) covers, but some of you may know them by these:

I have no idea why I listed the entire series, because I’ve only read the first two… He has also written short stories that accompany the Uglies series. the Leviathan series, the Midnighters series, the Peeps series, Afterworlds, Stupid Perfect World, and many more.

Lisi Harrison:

She seems really nice. She even asked me to be friends on Goodreads! O•O Here is her website (although she may be shutting it down for a while so check it out now if youre interested! Bio (well, kind of a bio):

Lisi Harrison is the author of the #1 New York Times best-selling series “The Clique”. Lisi was born in Canada, and lived in NYC for a while at MTV. She now lives in Laguna Beach, CA.

I labeled her for – you guessed it – the Clique series!

Again, no idea why I listed the entire thingg. I’ve only read the first three. Hence the picture. She has also written the Alphas series, some Monster High books, and the Pretenders series.

Sarah J. Maas:

She’s so pretty. Here is her website. Bio:

Sarah J. Maas is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Throne of Glass series (Queen of Shadows, Book 4, will be out in September 2015), as well as the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (out 5/5/15).
Sarah lives in Bucks County, PA, and over the years, she has developed an unhealthy appreciation for Disney movies and bad pop music. She adores fairy tales and ballet, drinks too much tea, and watches an ungodly amount of TV. When she’s not busy writing, she can be found exploring the historic and beautiful Pennsylvania countryside with her husband and canine companion.

I labeled her for Throne of Glass.

Loved this book, but recently I read Crown of Midnight, and let me just say,  the books got 2x better!
Can’t wait to read Heir of Fire! 🙂
Hehe. She’s also written A Court Of Thorns and Roses.
Amanda Hocking:

Here is her website, and here’s her bio:

Amanda Hocking is a lifelong Minnesotan obsessed with Batman and Jim Henson. In between watching cooking shows, taking care of her menagerie of pets, and drinking too much Red Bull Zero, she writes young adult urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
Her New York Times best-selling series the Trylle Trilogy has been optioned for films. She has published fifteen novels, including the Hollows and the Watersong seriesFrostfire and Ice Kissed – the first two books in her newest trilogy, The Kanin Chronicles – are out now, and the final book Crystal Kingdom will be out August 4, 2015.

I labeled her for Frostfire.

This is all I’ve read by her, but she’s also written the Trylle series, my Blood Approves series, the Hollows series, and the Watersong series.

Lauren Child:

Here is her website. Bio:

Lauren Child grew up in Wiltshire as the middle child of three sisters and the daughter of two teachers. She has always been interested in the many aspects of childhood, from gazing into toy shop windows to watching American children’s shows from the 1960s. After attending two Art Schools, where Lauren admits that she did not learn much, she travelled for six months, still unsure about which career to embark upon. Before Lauren starting writing and illustrating children’s books she started her own company ‘Chandeliers for the People’ making exotic, elegant lampshades. It was only when she came to write and illustrate the book Clarice Bean, That’s Me that she decided to devote her time to writing and illustrating books for children, which combines her fascination for childhood and her talent for designing and creating. Lauren gets her inspiration from other people’s conversations or from seeing something funny happen. Lauren lives in North London.

I labeled her for the Ruby Redfort series.

She also wrote the Clarice Bean series and The Princess and the Pea.

Thanks for reading my post! What are some of your favorite authors?

  1. Great list! I have two of the same ones (Sarah J. Maas and Rick Riordan). I really love some of the others you have on there. Now I really need to read series like the Lunar Chronicles. Just wait, Heir of Fire is going to blow your mind. If you thought Crown of Midnight made it 2x better, HoF is going to make it 100x better. The world just completely expands and becomes even more amazing. And Celaena becomes even better.

  2. Awesome! Thanks. 🙂 I’m currently reading Heir of Fire, and may I just say, whaaaaaaaaat? Everything is, like, complicated but simple at the same time! I cannot handle this! Hehe. It’s incredible so far, but I have yet to get to the purpose for having Manon as a main character, or a character at all… Glad to hear your vote of confidence! I will definitely check out your post. 🙂

  3. Okay, gotta admit *guilty face*…I haven’t actually read ANY of the books mentioned!! That’s really bad isn’t it? I feel like i’m unfairly neglecting the Y/A book community. What have I been thinking wasting potential reading time, ya’no, eating and sleeping and stuff! Well, no more! I WILL read the Heroes of Olympus series(been meaning to for ages.)! Oh, who needs sleep anyway?haha. Anywho, love learning more about authors so yet another post I enjoyed reading! Kudos! Katherine
